How This List Was Made

To find the best spring break destinations for families on a budget, Dollar Flight Club analyzed:

- Family-friendly appeal: Destinations were chosen for their affordability and family-oriented attractions.
- Seasonal considerations: Spring airfare trends and ideal weather conditions were factored in to ensure both cost-effectiveness and an enjoyable experience.
Cancun, Mexico

Last year’s most popular Spring Break spot, Cancún, is also America’s top international vacation destination yearly. More than 35 U.S. cities offer a flight to Cancun, making it an easy getaway. For example, Philadelphia (PHL) to Cancun (CUN) averaged $199 from February 25 to March 4, 2026.
Where To Stay

Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort is a beachfront resort situated between the Caribbean Sea and Nichupte Lagoon, offering endless family fun. While the property is right in the Hotel Zone, you’d never know. It offers multiple pools, waterslides, and a kids’ and teens’ club for younger guests, while adults can relax at the spa. Enjoy five diverse dining options, including an Asian show kitchen, Italian, Mexican, and all-day dining. Last fall, my family and I stayed for a long weekend, and my kids declared it their favorite trip of the year. And we never left the resort.
If you’re in need of a wellness getaway but don’t have anyone to watch the kids, no problem! The number one destination spa in the world, according to Condé Nast Traveler, is outside of Cancun and welcomes families. Palmaïa – The House of AïA is more than an all-inclusive wellness resort; it’s a beautifully designed experience for the senses and the soul. And for harried parents in desperate need of a recharge, adults can have a wellness retreat-style experience while kids stay busy at the children’s club.
2. San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica

The flight is just the start of an epic Costa Rica adventure. It might surprise you just how affordable these international airfares are. Flights from Miami to San Juan in the first week of March average $223, and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Liberia (LIR) averaged $259.
Costa Rica’s diverse natural landscapes and terrain set the stage for coast-to-coast, action-packed adventures. Thanks to the country’s compact size, exploring different regions, even with kids, is manageable.
Where to Stay

For families who want spring break without the chaos, Lamangata Luxury Surf Resort offers a barefoot, low-key alternative on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. This six-suite surf retreat keeps things intimate, with private villas, chef-prepared meals, and uncrowded breaks perfect for first-time surfers and teens. Days are focused on surf lessons, tide pool exploration, and jungle adventures. Nights are quiet, unplugged, and intentionally slow.
If you’re looking for the space of an Airbnb, but the safety, reliability, and amenities of a hotel, book Marriott Vacation Club at Los Suenos, located between Herradura Bay and the lush rainforest of the Green Coast. This property is set in the Los Suenos Resort & Marina community and offers one- and two-bedroom villa rentals.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the north and the Caribbean Sea on the south, this lush tropical island boasts nearly 1,000 miles of coastline, magnificent resorts and hotels, and a variety of things to do. No wonder it’s one of America’s favorite Caribbean getaways.
With more than 40 nonstop flights, it’s easy to find one that works for travelers, and its affordability landed it a spot on Dollar Flight’s Club’s list.
Where To Stay

Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, welcomes families to Miches’ pristine beaches and lush natural surroundings. Guests can enjoy an array of on-site entertainment and amenities, including a kids’ club, diverse dining options, retail shops, a sprawling pool complex with a water park, a state-of-the-art fitness center and juice bar, and a dedicated spa building with 10 treatment rooms, a beauty salon, a sauna, and more.
If you’ve got a golfer in the family, there is no better time to book a stay at Casa de Campo. A mainstay on ‘best Caribbean golf course’ lists for decades, its Teeth of the Dog course is open again after a year-long renovation. An iconic hotel with the best-of-the-best greens, Casa de Campo offers expansive grounds, private beaches, and a long list of outdoor activities.
Orlando, Florida

With 100s of direct flights into Orlando, endless hotel and activity options, there’s plenty of family fun without having to set foot in Disney or Universal Theme parks. For example, Orlando offers more than 200 golf courses, starting at $16 per round.
Take advantage of flight deals, such as the super-low $58 airfare from Newark, NJ, for a warm-weather getaway.
A Tropical Oasis in The Middle of Orlando

Book by March 1st and enjoy 30% off an all-inclusive day at Discovery Cove, a recipient of Good Housekeeping’s 2026 Travel Award for the third consecutive year. You’ll forget you’re in the middle of bustling Orlando, far away from the crowds and long lines. Discovery Cove provides guests a one-of-a-kind opportunity to swim with dolphins in the Dolphin Lagoon, snorkel with fish and rays in The Grand Reef, float down a unique lazy river, and hand-feed exotic birds in the Explorer’s Aviary.
Tampa, Florida

Tampa International Airport was named the #1 Large Airport in North America for a second consecutive year. With flights from 79 U.S. destinations, it is easy to visit the heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast, especially with select flights under $100.
City or Beach? Why Not Both!

The perfect family getaway for a blend of excitement and relaxation with exhilarating roller coasters, vibrant local culture, and many of America’s top beaches. Florida’s West Coast Beaches, such as family favorites Clearwater, St. Pete, and Treasure Island, are approximately 30 minutes from the airport.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

With 24 miles of golden sand beaches and 300 miles of navigable waterways, Greater Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America and the Yachting Capital of the World. The area boasts an average year-round temperature of 77˚F, and more than 3,000 hours of annual sunshine.
A more manageable airport than nearby Miami, it also offers great Spring Break fares. For example, Chicago (ORD) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) averages $63 for February 25 to March 4, 2026 flights.
Where To Stay

The destination offers more than 38,000 unique lodging accommodations across a range of hotels, luxury spa resorts, and beautifully appointed boutique properties, all reflecting the area’s cosmopolitan vibe.
If you’re overwhelmed, book a stay at a long-time family favorite, Marriott BeachPlace Towers, with condo-like rooms, as large as two bedrooms that sleep eight. My family loved it, with a daily activities schedule that kept the kids busy and the family focused on fun.
San Diego, California

Spring is the perfect time to visit San Diego, with comfortable, sunny weather ideal for enjoying award-winning attractions and day trips. Not to mention jaw-dropping flight deals like $38 from Denver to San Diego, on average.
The world-class San Diego Zoo is a 100-acre wildlife park that is home to more than 12,000 rare and endangered animals representing over 680 species and subspecies. Affordable, family-favorite Legoland California theme park is 30 miles north in Carlsbad, with kids’ admission starting at $39. Enjoy more than 60 rides, shows, and attractions, plus the on-site Legoland Water Park and Sea Life Aquarium.
Where To Stay

The legendary Hotel del Coronado shines even brighter after a $550 million restoration. Set on one of America’s most iconic beaches, it has welcomed guests to experience the Southern California coastal lifestyle for over 130 years. Hotel del Coronado offers five distinct neighborhood experiences, offering a variety of accommodations.
Austin, Texas

Its central location in the U.S. makes it a Spring Break possibility for most Americans. More than 80 U.S. cities fly to Austin, including Atlanta (ATL), with an average airfare of $80 from March 11 to 18, 2026.
Outdoor Adventures in Austin

Austin might be well known for late-night live music and the place for bachelor and bachelorette parties, but Austin, Texas, is a playground for families, too. The city is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, with state parks, rivers, swimming holes, cliff walls, and much more.
Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles has 300 days of warmth and sunshine, 75 miles of shoreline, more museums and performing arts than any other U.S. city, 30 unique neighborhoods, and some of the best food in the country. There’s more to do in Los Angeles than a one-week or even a one-month vacation has room for, so there’s no need to worry about bored kids.
With more than one hundred flights into LAX from U.S. cities, finding an affordable one is easier than you think. For example, Salt Lake City (SLC) to Los Angeles (LAX) between March 10 and 17, 2026, averaged $61.
Got a Swiftie? They’ll Love It

Los Angeles has over 1,000 hotels, making it hard to pick one. Take a planning shortcut and book a downtown stay at The Biltmore Los Angeles, an icon of elegance and sophistication for the past 100 years. Swifties will recognize it as the filming location for the “Delicate” music video. So practice the deliciously awkward choreography before you arrive, and experience the freedom of letting loose right where Taylor did.
Plan for an afternoon at The Grove, a shopping and entertainment complex, and also the premiere spot of The Eras Tour movie. Looking to run into stars? Make reservations at celebrity favorite Cecconi’s in West Hollywood and The Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge, where Taylor has dined.

Travel has entered its all-inclusive era. With the bland, cookie-cutter all-inclusive resorts of yesteryear far gone, today’s modern options are wowing and wooing travelers to have it all for a per-night price. And that can mean golf, too.
While many have golf courses on-site, offer access to nearby greens, or provide a stay-and-play package or golf rounds for an additional fee, very few include rounds in their standard overnight booking. Here are eight resorts that do.

This Affordable Line Voted Best Caribbean Cruise Again. Here’s My Family’s Experience on a Summer Sailing

For the third consecutive year, Margaritaville at Sea (MAS) has been recognized among the best in cruising by the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The cruise line was voted No. 1 Caribbean Cruise, along with No. 2 rankings for Best Ocean Cruise Line, Best Cruise Line for Families, and Best Cruise Line for Solo Travelers.
Considering their cruises are a fraction of the cost of most other lines, these wins are seriously impressive. But it’s only the start of the accolades they’ve racked up since their first sailing in 2022, many of which were voted on by travelers themselves.
MSC Cruises Named One of Travel + Leisure Readers’ 5 Favorites. Here’s What Our Spring Break Trip Was Like.

More than 35 million travelers are cruising, and many of them are sailing with MSC Cruises around the world. Relatively new to the American vacation market, this family-owned line began offering U.S. cruises in 1998 and has gained popularity in North America over the past few years. And earlier this week, MSC Cruises was named one of Travel + Leisure Readers’ 5 Favorite Large-ship Ocean Cruise Lines of 2025.
My daughter and I took a 3-night press cruise from Cape Canaveral, Florida, to the Caribbean to see for ourselves why so many Americans are hitting the sea for vacation, and increasingly with MSC Cruises.
